Wednesday, 25th March

Please play the following morning greeting message from Ms. Nazish:

Activity One:

Mathematics (Numbers)

Duration: 15 minutes

Materials: Two baskets, recycled paper

Beginning: Scrunch up the recycled paper into small balls. Place the two baskets in the

middle of the room and have your child stand at some distance from the two baskets.

Middle: Let your child shoot the paper balls in the two baskets. Leave the balls that land

outside the two baskets on the floor.

End: Once finished, let your child count how many balls are there in each basket. Then

let them compare and identify which one has more or less.

Extension: You may ask your child to count the total number of balls that landed in

both the baskets and then count all the balls that landed outside. Compare the two

numbers to see if more balls landed inside the two baskets or outside.

Purpose: It helps in counting and recognition of written numbers.

Brain Break:

How many of the following poses can you do?

Activity Two:

Science: Sink or Float

Duration: 15 minutes

Materials: Pick any items from the house like a spoon, rock, scissors, feather, paperclip, small car, cotton, bowl ( half-filled with water )

Beginning: Place the bowl and items in front of your child. Talk about the different sizes and shapes of the items. Then talk about sink and float.

You may challenge your child by letting them predict before they place an item in a bowl. Ask them, “I wonder if the item will sink or float?”  Sinking: Item goes down

Floating: Item stays on top

Middle: Let the child put one item in the water at a time. Let him/her experiment and share ideas. Encourage them to tell you if an item is sinking or floating.

End: Give the child a five minutes warning and then ask him/her to help you clean up.

Use vocabulary: sink, float, up, down, top, bottom, predict, experiment

Purpose: This activity helps the children understand the properties of different materials.

Materials needed for tomorrow's activities:

Activity One:

10 plastic or wooden letters including the first letter of the child’s name and family members' names. E.g. (A,B,C,H, M, L, R, S, T, K) you can add more letters later to further the child’s interest as a backup. (if you don’t have plastic or wooden letters you could make your own by writing letters on a 1-inch thick piece of card or on cardboard and cut the letters out), rice or sand, tongs/spoon, deep medium-sized bowl

Activity Two:

A piece of paper with a square, rectangle and triangle drawn on it (big enough for the child to cut. Otherwise, draw two shapes on one paper and the third one on another sheet).
